CONGRATULATIONS! You made it! It’s halfway through the year and I hope you are still on fire! The best part of the last week of June and the first week of July is that you should reflect on your efforts of the previous 6 months and refocus on your opportunities in the next. Just in case you haven’t, let’s do it now.
Remember in late December when you made resolutions for the New Year? How are you doing? How is it working out for you? I hope you are still on track. You’re not? How long did you last? I’m sure most of us wish we pushed a little harder. Went for it instead of laying up. We all could have made more calls, made more appointments and closed more deals. Or whatever your metric is that we are judged by. Guess what? It’s okay. We can get a clean slate. My friends and colleagues John Pryon and Grant Perry host a Clean Slate Club. The conference line number is (530) 881-1212 Meeting ID: 652-680-098#.
It’s also on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/cleanslateclub/
It is held on the very last day of the month at 5:01pm PST. It is a closed group so ask John to join the club on Facebook and get on the calls to share your victories and “wipe the slate clean and start afresh.” That’s the reason for the group. We accept what was accomplished, good or bad. Short of forecast or broken records. And get it in gear for the next month! No matter if you succeeded or failed, you only have one day to reflect and redirect and it’s time to move on. Sulk if you have to, but you only have much time. Celebrate if you want to, but you must quickly take a pat on the back, raise your glass in toast, but before you is a new day, a new month. A chance to kick it back in gear and W.I.N. (What’s Important Now) big! Here’s an audio of last months call (June). http://stme.in/x58VK6gLy
One of my favorite quotes from John, Grant and Jim Padilla, another coaching friend, of which we are all protegés of Eric Lofholm, who was coached by Tony Robbins, who was coached by Jim Rohn.
The quote is: “Don’t beat yourself up. No one likes a bully.”
So, get over the first 6 months of the year. However it ended, it’s in the bag. Congratulations! It’s in the can. It’s in the record books. Now is the time to refocus on making the second half of the year better than the first. If I told you that you can still make this the best year you have ever had, would you believe me? Would you commit to a plan that commits your all?
Reflect. Redirect. Refocus. THAT’S HOW IT’S DONE.
I’m listening to Spotify on the internet while I am writing this post and a new band from Australia called Sheppard is playing a tune called “Geronimo.” The lyrics are simply “Say Geronimo!” and “Bombs Away!” Remember playing in the backyard? Before you would fully commit to something like jumping in the pool or the diving off the high board, rushing into the enemy’s camp, or running in and save the day, you would scream, “Geronimo!” or while playing Army, “BOMBS AWAY!” Well, that’s the attitude you are to take in order to start this third quarter and second half. Find a War Cry and fully commit to the success of the rest of the year!
Here’s a lyric clip on YouTube. Mind you, this is the first time I have ever heard this song. What an endorsement! Sheppard~ Geronimo
So, are you ready to make this year as great as you started?
Are you ready to reflect? Take a look at what you did well and maximize the positive. Take a look at what you could have done better and prepare a strategy for success. Take a look at what you did poorly and minimize those efforts.
Are you ready to redirect? If the first half wasn’t the outcome you expected. Stop right now and develop a new strategy and be prepared to double your efforts to achieve success.
Are you ready to refocus? Where is you energies pointed to? Focus on your focus. Do not be distracted by distractions. Prepare a shortlist of actions that will revenue producing results. Nothing else matters. Be prepared to cut out some fat.
Let’s commit to the best year we have ever had by doing the things we’ve never done and having the best half-year anyone has ever had. I know you can do it. I know I can do it. “All things are possible”~Matt 19:26 “We can do all things”~Phil. 4:13
